This week I will post Section VI of my essay in four installments, Monday through Thursday.
The section is entitled ‘The Weaponization of Whiteness: Making America Hate Again.’ It deals with Trump's exploitation of racism; anti-immigrant xenophobia; and cultural resentment – including white nationalism and right wing religiosity. In my view, he exploits these sentiments as substitutes for dealing with the economic insecurity which plagues middle and working class Americans.
